Celebrate 100 Years of Samba at Brazilian Carnaval

Samba the night away at Brazilian Carnaval.

Samba the night away at Brazilian Carnaval.

If you became enchanted with the beauty of Rio de Janeiro and its festive atmosphere during the summer Olympics, you most likely yearn to take a trip there for the wild celebration known as Rio Carnival taking place next month. Not all of us have a bank account that matches our fantasies, but luckily Brazilian Nites Productions has Angelenos covered with their annual Brazilian Carnaval.

The party begins at 8 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Teragram Ballroom in downtown Los Angeles.  There is going to be authentic Brazilian food and drinks, beads, masks, music and, of course, dancing. This year’s theme is 100 Years of Samba, which is the dance and musical icon of the country. The All Star Brazilian Carnaval band features lead singer Renni Flores directed by Denys Cristian, and the event also includes the Samba Soul Dancers, Samba Da Mudanca Samba School, DJ Potira and Samba N Motion led by Anita Malandro.
