Visit Hollywood Pop! at the corner of Selma and Ivar from May 20 through 2016.
When you live in the heart of Hollywood, it can feel like such a trek to Griffith Park or Pan Pacific Park if you’re simply longing for a cool little spot to read or share a sandwich with a friend. Luckily the Sunset & Vine Business Improvement District has you covered. This Friday, May 20, a pop-up park dubbed Hollywood Pop! opens at the corner of Selma Avenue and Ivar Avenue.
Situated on private property that was previously a vacant lot, the new public space is just a quick walk from the Hollywood/Vine Metro station, the Pantages, Fonda and Palladium, as well as Amoeba Records and ArcLight Cinemas. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends for a picnic before a show, catch up on some reading during lunch or sip a cup of coffee with a blind date.
Hollywood Pop! features colorful cartoon-like seating, tables, shade, landscaping and wayfinding signage designed by LA-Más. All community members are invited to the opening event on Friday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., which includes interactive stations where you can weigh in on the space as you test out different amenities. Light refreshments are going to be provided by sweetgreen.
